Rural Health Outreach Program

Medical Healthcare And Education And Outreach

Access to health facilities is a great concern to rural dwellers in the district. Given the prevalent ignorance, poverty and lack of health education, an emphasis is placed on supporting these rural folks with quality of health services and on preventing and reducing the impact and spread communicable diseases and stigmatization. KOWA Foundation provides free health screening to diagnose ailments which would otherwise go unnoticed and provide basic prescriptions as a first step to a lasting solution to cure diseases.

Health screening covers eye tests, sugar levels, cardio vascular problems, malaria and Typhoid, HIV-AIDS among others. This is achieved through the use of volunteer nurses and doctors. An important component of this program is to educate the rural communities (based on primary health care methods) on the best health practices to avoid diseases and stigmatization.
